I got this Poulan off Craigslist. The owner insisted it was running 6 mo. ago when he put it away for the season. I dumped the fuel and put in fresh 2 cycle, and cleaned the spark plug. I couldn't get it started unless I put a little fuel directly on the choke, so I got a new spark plug. That SEEMED like or solved the problem. It started fine, ran okay. I made 2 cuts and the engine stalled like I pulled the choke, and I never got it running again. I can get it started with the choke on but it ... Recently got a new Poulan Pro PR4218 for free through my company rewards program and noticed that the saw tends to stall and die repeatedly straight out of the box. Used pre-mixed TruFuel 50:1 so wouldn't think that would be the issue. I know there are some adjustments that can be done on the carburetor, but I'm not too knowledgeable about that. Any recommendations???
It was riding/cutting fine a few days ago with no signs of distress. The next time I go to mow, it won't start. I think maybe it's the battery, so replace the battery. When trying to crank, it still won't crank. But I was able to get it to crank if I manually turned the flywheel and someone trying to crank it. It stayed cranked until it died, then wouldn't crank again. I then replaced the solenoid, it didn't help. Then replaced the starter, same result. Starter was re-manufactured and not new. I...
