I've posted here a few times getting help with these builds. I've overcome the waterslide phase (for the most part) and I'm stuck here now. I've been at it since [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/diypedals/comments/9xyoz3/want_to_build_a_pedal_for_my_brother_but_i_know/) post. Did a few days of research and ordered the parts. Take a full inventory of every piece of gear in your studio, including its location. Document all inputs and outputs separately for each piece of gear. Identify the connection types for each piece of gear, whether XLR, TRS, AES, etc. Measure and confirm the distance to each piece of gear from the patch bay location.
Tips. Perform a quick sound check to set the microphone and speaker levels. Place mics 1-2" away for voices and 4 - 5" away from acoustic instruments. Rely on the acoustic sound of the performer and reinforce their sound with the PA system. Two main speakers provide wider coverage for larger spaces or audiences. Guitar Pedal Order Guide: 11 Best Setups with Diagrams. Christopher D. Schiebel. August 17, 2021. August 16, 2021. Each different guitar pedal order produces a varying result which impacts ... Famous tube amps from companies like Fender, Marshall, Vox, and others have come to define the sound of virtually all electric-guitar music. To varying degrees, we know that these amps sound different from each other—and we might even know some basic specs, like what kind of tubes different models use, and maybe some details about stock speakers. Connect the output jack of the pedal to your amplifier. Turn your guitar all the way up, set the amplifier to a clean setting, and then engage your pedal. Test one pedal at a time. Levels and pedal order. While your pedal may be okay on its own, it may not respond the same when used with other pedals.

A decent quality snare is one of the most important drum parts, as it produces a diverse array of tone and forms the center of the musician's set up. The snare is a shallow drum, that sits between the legs of the drummer whilst they play. The shell is usually made from metal or wood, with a depth of 6" and a diameter of around 12".

How you order your guitar pedals matters because of how they process your signal. This process varies depending on which pedals and effects you're using. For example, if you have a distortion and chorus pedal, you would want your distortion first in order to handle volume before you handle waveform changes.

I'm slowly building a very basic distortion pedal from the ground up, trying to learn some basic electronics as I go. I'm a programmer by trade, so my electronics skill level compared to learning how to bake, is like knowing where the kitchen is. I have a basic gain stage as shown in the diagram, with a gain of 11 and a power supply of +9V DC.
"The guitar that people really notice the most is my favorite electric guitar that I own, which is a 1960 - I always thought for years it was a '59 but it turns out it's an early 1960 Fender Jazzmaster that I bought in 1995 from Mike Watt when I was on tour with him. It was once black.
The RockBoard TRES 3.1 is a really high-quality 'board, too - it's neat, configurable, and affordable. It comes with a soft case with a shoulder strap, but you can spend an extra $60 for a flight case. It'll mount up to 10 pedals, and the height of the pedalboard is easily adjusted to make room for mounting a pedalboard power supply underneath. ...
This looks like a clean, thorough DIY pedalboard job, complete with a power strip fixed to the riser on the board's back panel. While I'm not completely sure the board itself (looks like a semi-professional wood-working job) is a homemade outfit, the power strip is clearly an add-on, and super handy if you're dealing with multiple, individual power supplies or adapters.

Once you know which pedals you want to include on your new board, you can start to plan for pedal order (signal processing) and layout. While there is some debate about how to order guitar effects pedals, I've found this resource from Strymon to be the most helpful, accurate and straightforward assessment of the issue.
The 4 Rules for the Guitar Effects Order. These are four broad rules that quickly narrow down the possibilities of the guitar signal chain. And no, "there are no rules" isn't one of them. There is a logical guitar pedal order everyone follows. Rule 1 - There is a logical order for groups of effects. Some effects remove or add certain amount of ...
I recently re-discovered my old Replifex processor and hooked it up for the fun of it to my existing mono setup. I ended up loving it and found some of the effects to be very useful. I would like to expand my mono setup to stereo and I'm kind of lost as to how to accomplish this, giving my current equipment. My pedaboard has a input and loop section, the input contains a compressor, wah, so on, and the loop section is the volume control and delays/verbs. I'd like to keep this configuration as i...
It's smoother, fuller, and sounds more like a warm tube-driven preamp than the SD-1. Yes, the Blues Driver is more expensive, but in a one-to-one comparison we think it's worth the upgrade. The Boss SD-1 is a better option than the DS-1, but comes in second to the BD-2. Flickr Commons image via Shixart1985.
Voltage (9v, 12v, 18v, 24v) Tip: Use a voltage doubler to convert a 9-volt or 12-volt power output for use with 18-volt or 24-volt guitar pedals. If your power supply has 18 volts, you can use this converter to bring it down to 9 volts. Although 9-volt power is the most common, there are tons of pedals that require more.

I want to build a pedal with dual mono inputs and dual mono outputs that allows me to silence two guitar amps simultaneously with both a momentary switch and a latching switch. Although this may be a relatively simple design, I can't find an exact schematic or diagram for a pedal like this online. This would be my first build where I am not following some pre laid out diagram, and I'd like to make sure I understand how it works so I can learn along with the build, and make sure I have everything...

Create a patchbay diagram. While there's no right or wrong arrangement for connections, be methodical with how you set it up and create a clear wiring diagram, also called a patchbay diagram. Some manufacturers will also include blank templates that you can use, as well. Creating a diagram you can refer to at any time will save you a lot of time.

Guitar String Order. Everyone who first takes a serious interest in guitar wants to know what the string order is in terms of musical notes and why they're arranged in that fashion. It's a great question. The reason for their order boils down to the evolution of the stringed instrument.
Hello everyone! Completely new to bass, I might be asking tons of questions in the near future so figured a small introduction was in order. I recently decided to pick up the bass due to a more musically inclined friend had me try out the Rocksmith cable which was very fun. Does anyone know of software to keep electrical components inventory? I've been using a spreadsheet but it's getting overwhelming, but that's also partly because I try to think too far ahead with builds lol. I'm not a professional, I just like the idea of recording my stock of each component, not only to help facilitate bulk orders but also retain info about each component, i.e. op amp slew rates, pin assignments, etc. Also, keeping track of projects, PCB diagrams, parts lists, etc. Basically w...
Using outboard gear on the front end of the recording process is a great way to process signals in the analog domain. This type of setup is typically referred to as a channel strip, that offers a preamplifier, compression, and equalization in one unit. The idea is to process the signal before digital conversion (A/D).
**Intro** This is going to be an exploration of what happens to an audio signal when it goes into a guitar amp. What changes from the source to the final result. I’m not going to touch on how guitar amps work. Instead, focusing more on the end result generally. This comes as a result of me messing around with stuff as I was recording and I found the results very interesting. I believe I will touch on areas of physics and math – of which I am no expert, so I welcome any and all feedback a...
As noted earlier, the best order for guitar pedals on pedalboard setups is highly dependent on the individual player. Here is how a couple of the best do it. John Petrucci of Dream Theater has a lot of firepower in his amps, but his board has an often changing overdrive pedal, an Axe-FX II, a wah-wah pedal, volume pedal and Boss tuner pedal .
Just purchased 3 rather expensive Planet Waves guitar cables online (these: http://www.thomann.de/be/planet_waves_pwag15_instrumentenkabel.htm). They keep falling out of jacks though. On my Telecaster for example, they seem to plug in OK, but they don't "click", and they wriggle out of the jack easily. All my other cables work fine. The cables have the same problem on the other end, plugging into audio interfaces or pedals. For a popular and high-quality brand, I can't make sense of it. Did I...
Question for you guys. I'm ordering a new volume pedal to use for swells instead of the volume knob on my guitar. Should I put it before or after my compressor? My thought process is that currently my volume KNOB comes before the compressor, so logically the volume PEDAL should also come before the compressor. But a lot of diagrams I've seen online say that the compressor should come before volume. I realize this is all subjective and no matter what anyone says, I get to do it however I want. ...
I am a novice pedal builder just dipping my toe into pedal making, and decided to tackle a Landtone Klon Klone from Guitar Pedal Parts. The build actually went well, soldering wasn't as difficult as I thought and although the instructions that came in the mail were terrible, I found some good guides online. Once assembled, it worked fine with a 9v battery but wouldn't work on DC power, so I ordered a bag of new DC power jacks, replaced the jack with a new one, and the pedal worked! Hooray, I fix...
